After the success of their first collaboration, “Virunga,” actor and environmentalist Leonardo DiCaprio is setting up a multi-year first-look deal with Netflix.

Through his production company, Appian Way, DiCaprio is looking to produce documentaries with current and provocative environmental and conservation themes that will air exclusively on the streaming service.

The idea behind the deal is that environmental docs, which are usually relegated to film festivals with small audiences, will finally get their due, thanks to Netflix’s massive popularity (the service claims to have 57 million subscribers in 50 countries).
