During my usual trolling of the Internets earlier this week, I was pleasantly surprised by the – yes – funky fresh denim looks I saw on my favorite blogs. I don’t mean funky fresh in a Fresh Prince and DJ Jazzy Jeff kind of way, but in a “Hey, that look is quirky and cool in a way I haven’t really seen before,” kind of way.

My dear friend Jessie of Style & Pepper has one of the most unique and wonderful senses of style of anyone I know. I like to call her my own personal Carrie Bradshaw – because her  looks are always whimsical, unique and unlike anyone else. Here she’s whipped her hair into this little scarf knot, donned a drape-y top and cinched up these darling little chambray shorts. These three elements aren’t unusual unto themselves, but Jessie’s combination is fun and – say it with me now – fresh!

Let’s be real: When does Aimee not look totally amazing and enviably cool? It’s just not surprising that she’s somewhere in Southern California, riding a bicycle in heels and wearing a crazy, oversize denim vest over a romper that I could never pull off. It’s the kind of vintage piece you’ve got to hunt for, and I now have every reason to head to the Brooklyn Flea this weekend.

Finally, Julie of Sincerely, Jules unearthed a pair of you-never-thought-you’d-wear-them-again Abercrombie & Fitch distressed light-wash flare jeans. She’s channeling her inner Nicole Richie by pairing theme with a printed tunic and animal print pumps and the best ombre hair, maybe ever.
