I would never be one to call my style particularly feminine. In fact, I’d say it leans much more towards the tomboy side of things, with touches of girly and ladylike here and there.

I think that’s why when it comes to exploring my denim horizons on this blog, I tend to stick to jeans, shorts and button down shirts. They’re easy, classic, and compliment my more feminine pieces. Today though, I’m changing things up! I went out on a limb and found myself (figuratively) sitting pretty in a LDD. That’s little denim dress.

I feel like quite the sweet thing in this Free People Bustier dress. We all know that a bustier shape is rather unabashedly womanly, but the railroad pinstriping and full skirt of this number make the dress more flirty than sexy. It’s 100% cotton, so if you wash it at home, be sure to do so on cold so you don’t lost any of the length or shape.

As far as fit, I’d say this dress is pretty forgiving for most body types. The straps are adjustable, and the back has an elasticized and ruched panel so it stretches to hold just right. I may be wrong, but in my experience and observations, a high-waisted dress is flattering on nearly everyone – with the right styling for your shape.

For this hot summer day, I kept things simple but playful with neon Dolce Vita ‘Archer’ sandals, a fun little flag necklace from Bauble Bar, and my ever-present Ray-Ban aviators.
