Lucy has the kind of style that drives me crazy. When I scroll through her looks, on her eponymous blog, Lucy Laucht, I always think to myself, “Gahhh, why didn’t I think of that last week when I had to go to that birthday party!” Her style tops my list for daily inspiration. Lucy has a keen eye for pattern mixing and balancing proportions, and she loves a good high-waisted skirt. Her denim style is never just about jeans; she works her denim shirt into feminine ensembles with just the right amount of casual ease. I interviewed Lucy recently to get the scoop on her style and current cravings.
What’s your denim philosophy?
Unless you’re Alexa Chung or Meredith Melling Burke, don’t do double denim- I’ve tried it and it comes across as very dad-on-the-weekend-circa-1999.
What do you wear with denim?
Jewels and vertiginous heels! My job requires me to be fairly well put together so I always dress denim up.
What are your favorite brands?
I love Ksubi, J Brand and Zara. And actually, my favorite chambray shirt came from H&M kids- fits like a dream!
Tell us about the jeans you wear most often?
I wear my black Ksubi’s to death, they have epic bum-shaping capabilities. I do think it’s worth spending a little more on jeans so that you get a good fit.
What is on your denim wish list?
After my first, and very shivery, New York winter last year, I’ve decided to embrace pants this time around. I’d like a light wash pair of J Brand jeans and I’ve been thinking of trying the colored denim trend- I’m a bit late to the party but never mind!
