If you love photography and find yourself in the LA area, there’s an exhibit you won’t want to miss. The G2 Gallery is premiering the Ethiopian Wolf Project: Documenting the Struggle for Survival of Africa’s Wolves, an exhibit of photography by Rebecca Jackrel and Will Burrard-Lucas.

The photographers recently spent five weeks in the highlands of Ethiopia documenting the lives of the most endangered canid on the planet. The are fewer than 450 of these wolves left, and the most immediate threat is the prevalence of two diseases that have been under control in the US for decades: rabies and canine distemper virus. Carried by the domesticated dogs of herders, the diseases are having a terrible impact on the wolves.

This photography project brings attention to the beautiful species and the entirely preventable diseases that are bringing them to the edge of extinction.

All the proceeds from the exhibit go to the Wildlife Conservation Network, a non-profit that supports the Ethiopian Wolf Conservation Programme and other conservation groups. Following the Ethiopian Wolf with Dr. Claudio Sillero-Zubiri. Takes place on Tuesday, October 16, at 7:30pm. Admission is $5 at the door and all proceeds go to the Wildlife Conservation Network.
