What if providing clean drinking water to a child in need was as easy as NOT touching your phone for 10 minutes? That’s actually the gist of the UNICEF Tap Project!

UNICEF teamed up with designer, Giorgio Armani, to create a mobile website (not an app) that can tell when a smartphone isn’t being used. If you can go ten whole minutes without touching your phone, Armani will provide a day’s worth of clean drinking water to a child in need. The longer your phone goes unused, the more water will reach these children in need.

“UNICEF Tap Project is working to help the 768 million people around the world without access to clean water,” says the org via the Tap Project’s website. “This year you can help by taking a challenge to give up access to something far less vital than water–your cell phone.”
