The festival aims to increase the power of poetry, literature and art. The initiative for the event, which is being led by American poet Michael Rothenberg, will begin at the same time in European and Middle Eastern countries. The aim of the festival is to show the world how it is possible to live without discrimination.
The Turkish part of the festival will be coordinated by Fırat Demir and will occur simultaneously in Mardin and Istanbul and bring together the country’s poets to convey messages of peace.
The panels in Mardin and Istanbul will begin with the commemoration of Turkish poet Seyhan Erözçelik, who died last month. The panels in Istanbul will continue at the Akbank Art Center and feature Turkish poets such as Mungan, Müldür, Keskin, Ergülen, Demir, Yücel Kayıran, Enis Akın, Akif Kurtuluş, Elif Sofya, Anita Sezgener, Süreyyya Evren and Pelin Özer.
Highlights
The highlight of the festival will be Latife Tekin, a renowned Turkish poem en prose writer.
The Istanbul part of the festival will continue with a party at Kumbaracı50. During the party, Yasemin Mori, Mabel Matiz and Ece Dorsay will take the stage.
The poetry readings are expected to be the highlight of the program. Mardin, meanwhile, will host the festival at the Sakıp Sabancı City Museum and feature poets Kemal Varol, Azad Ziya Eren, Veysi Erdoğan, Emel İrtem and Habip Can Türker.
