Striving to raise a new generation of scriptwriters and film directors, organizers of the 48th International Antalya Golden Orange Film Festival recently completed a film workshop for 178 people who will now compete in a short film competition.
“Cinema has become a part of the city. We want Antalya to rear new scriptwriters and directors in the country,” Antalya Metropolitan Municipality Cultural and Social Affairs Department Director Adem Akyürek said. The workshop drew people from a variety of age groups and professions, according to a written statement from the Antalya Metropolitan Municipality.
Participants visited the Antalya Film Studio, known as “Çandırwood,” in Çandır in the southern province’s Serik district as part of the workshop.
Following the courses on filmmaking, cinema language script, mounting, sound and image, groups will compete in seven- to 10-person groups for awards being offered as part of the Golden Oranges, which run from Oct. 8 to 14. Shooting will start Monday, while the top three teams will receive 30,000, 20,000 and 10,000 Turkish Liras, respectively.
Akyürek said the value of film studios in Antalya had often been neglected and added that the Golden Orange should work with such film centers in closer cooperation.
The workshops began three years ago, he said.
