I set out this morning to shoot some denim style full of hope and excitement. It’s an astonishing 60 degrees out already, with temperatures expected to reach nearly 70 degrees in the afternoon. I mean, what?

Figuring that everyone and their mother would be donning their spring attire today I was sure I’d find no shortage of amazing denim looks. What do you know, there were people everywhere in black down jackets, jeggings and knee-high boots. I was distraught and discouraged. Were my office-mates and I the only ones embracing today’s unseasonably fabulous weather?

I headed back towards the office on Broome street feeling defeated. Head hanging low, I spied something out of the corner of my eye near the curb. A pastel pink tennis shoe… and… a pale yellow hem. Hark – spring style! I approached and asked if I could take this woman’s photo. As it turns out, it was the lovely and always enviably dressed Mary Kate Steinmiller, Fashion Market Editor at Teen Vogue.

Ms. Steinmiller was sporting one of my favorite colored denim micro-trends, pastel jeans. She punched up her mostly light-colored ensemble with a simple brown belt and metalic Yves Saint Laurent bag. Perfection.

Get the look with these Paige Verdugo jeans, a white tank and a draped cardigan like this from Free People. [Her beaded blazer is from Elizabeth & James.]
