I’m quite tickled to share with you guys today that J Brand and Shopbop have collaborated on an exclusive capsule collection of denim and leather, available right this very second over on Shopbop. From shorts to skinny jeans to jackets, the collection focuses on patchwork styles and brings together two of my favorite fabrics: leather and denim.

I took a pair of the 811 Ankle Skinny Patch Jeans for a test drive on Friday last week, for work and an afternoon coffee date. Like the 811′s I have loved in the past, they hit at just the right place on the ankle, with that 11″ opening, to get that very Audrey Hepburn look with flats. However, with contrasting knee patches, back pockets and a waistband, they’re anything but Audrey. These are more… Jane Birkin on a motorcycle, if you catch my drift.

The denim of the main body of the jeans is soft and stretchy, but the waistband denim is much stiffer, and doesn’t have as much give. Though I typically wear a 27, I sided up to a 28, as I usually do with J Brand denim. I paired them with my favorite leather jacket for edge, but pointy-toe flats for polish.
