As we speak, I’m preparing to board a long, cross-country flight back to New York City. I’ve been on vacation in both Seattle and at my family’s mountain getaway in Sun Valley, Idaho. You might recall that I was there last year as well, trying to figure out how I’d rock my denim on New Year’s Eve.
This year, my parents had a party at our little place, and it was all logs on the fire, plenty of red wine and that unusual Sun Valley mix of rustic luxury; at least when it came to getting dressed.

“Dressing up” in Idaho does not mean the same thing as it does in New York. To dress up here, one might only need a great piece of jewelry or your “special occasion” cowboy boots. I decided to gussy up my newest (dark) chambray shirt from Madewell with a simple fitted navy skirt, tights, Dolce Vita booties and my ubiquitous faux fur vest (at least this time of year). For that extra bit of glamour (I am still a city girl, after all) – a leopard print bag.
