When you’ve seen and worn as much denim as I have, it takes a rare gem to get me to stop and really appreciate it’s beauty. That’s unfortunate I know, because the whole point of premium denim (and why we’re willing to pay more for it) is the craftsmanship and details that go into designing and creating each pair. These Kelly Wearstler camo jeans are one such pair that caused me to stop and give praise.

The Denim

The print of these jeans is worth noting simply because it’s not a print – these are actually made of hundreds of different pieces of denim woven together to create the camouflage pattern. You can touch and feel the difference, but you still get a smooth look.

The Fit

I would say the fit of these jeans is interesting and particular. They’re a little long (33 inch inseam), but not super-tapered at the ankle. (I found the scrunching looked less polished than a casual roll.) These jeans have a lot of stretch in the waist – I’m usually a 27 and these are a 26. They also have a 9-inch rise, which is comfortable for me but might be too high for some.

Styling Notes

I’m telling you guys, I cannot get out of this monochromatic dressing trend. I had a lot of fun with these jeans though, because they’re a grayscale print that’s visible but not overpowering. I played on the denim hues by duplicating them with a tunic-length black sleeveless button-down top, this dark grey Madewell sweater and a dove grey coat and beanie – plus black sunglasses and (finally!) black pumps. A matte red lipstick adds just a little bit of pop.
