Talk about good sportsmanship. In early November, Levi Strauss tag-teamed with the San Francisco 49ers to collect used jeans for Goodwill. The clothing drive was a ripping success, raking in more than 18,850 pairs of denim in little over two weeks. To celebrate their success, the denim giant and the football franchise tapped Bay Area artist Hannah Stizer to transform the haul into a sweeping art installation. Laid out waist to hem at Levi’s Stadium, the “Field of Jeans” is a testament to cumulative strength of multiple small acts. The effect is even more striking when viewed from above: Stitzer used the negative space of the green field to manifest the universal symbol for recycling.
