New research shows that more people than ever are resorting to yoga and alternative holistic methods for health care in the United States.
“The health practices of Americans tend to be quite stable, so an almost doubling of [yoga] use is very striking,” explains Dr. Josephine Briggs, director of the National Center for Complementary and Integrative Health at the National Institutes of Health.
According to Briggs, the increase in yogis is consistent with the rising numbers of exercises and practices that cater to people with chronic conditions like back and neck pain and arthritis.
According to the study, alternative methods of treatment are also on the rise.
