Ben Affleck is in the hot seat for the latest edition of TOMS Shoes “One for One” video series, talking about his Eastern Congo Initiative and why supporting the region is so important to him.
“My hope for a better tomorrow is that people hear about these issues and learn to care about them and that all of us in the United States think more broadly and more deeply about our neighbors in the world,” he says in the video, “and see ourselves as not as a place with borders and walls, but as a place where our fates our intertwined and interconnected.”

The 38-year-old launched his organization in 2010 as a way to draw awareness to the war-torn region and help support organizations working to end sexual violence and reintegrate child soldiers.
TOMS is one such organization taking steps toward advocacy of worthy causes. As they launched TOMS Eyewear today, and for every pair purchased they’ll donate eye treatment, prescription glasses, or surgery to people in need— starting with those in Nepal, Tibet and Cambodia.
