Burj El-Barajneh Camp is located in the southern suburb of the capital Beirut. It was built in 1948. It hosts 3700 families and these families are composed of five up to six members on average.
The economic situation is very hard. The housing conditions are very hard too, because the houses are damp. There are no playgrounds. The people suffer from unemployment. There are a lot of associations inside and in the surrounding of the camp (vocational/social/cultural). Poverty leads to social problems especially among the youth. The rate of the drops out is becoming high, sometimes due to the hard educational system.
