Give your camera the picture-perfect style it deserves by dressing it up with your favorite old necktie. Since the necktie is already stitched into a long strip, you’re already halfway there. By adding a few other pieces, you can easily remake your camera strap into a project that’s suit-able (get it?) for any occasion.

MATERIALS AND SUPPLIES
•    Necktie
•    Needle and thread or sewing machine
•    Pins
•    1-inch wide ribbon or webbing
•    Two keychain rings or large split rings
•    Measuring tape
STEP ONE
Start by measuring and cutting 27 inches from the tip of the necktie.
STEP TWO
Fold up ½-inch on both ends (one end will be cut and the other will be pointed). Then, pin and stitch in place.
STEP THREE
Cut two pieces of ribbon or webbing to 7.5 inches. Tip: If the ribbon or webbing is polyester you can burn the ends with a lighter to keep them from fraying.
Fold the ribbon pieces in half lengthwise and overlay it by 1 inch on the ends of the necktie. Pin in place. Stitch a square with an “x” in the middle securing the overlapped pieces together.

STEP FOUR
On both ends, fold up a ½-inch angled piece and stitch in place.
STEP FIVE
Fold the open ends of the ribbon up by ¾ inch, covering one end of the keychain. Stitch the folded ends in place.
STEP SIX
Slide the keychain rings onto the loops on your camera. Slip your new camera strap over your neck and let your camera get down to business.
