Fancy wearing sunglasses made from cannabis? Sam Whitman, a graduate of Glasgow Caledonian University, is taking preorders on Kickstarter as we speak. Each frame uses a proprietary blend of hemp and flax fibers, compression-molded into shape and bound together with an eco-friendly resin. Paired with bio-derived polarized lenses, the result is a “strong, lightweight, sustainable” pair of sunglasses, according to Whitman. While sunglasses made from plastic and wood are common enough, hemp remains virgin territory for eyewear manufacturers, he adds.
