Virgin Atlantic is changing up their style. No, they are not getting rid of the red, but they are making their crew’s uniforms more sustainable.
Sir Richard Branson enlisted the help of fellow environmentalist Vivienne Westwood to create something functional, beautiful and eco-friendly. The airline helped the designer by bringing her different fabrics. Westwood said about her own search, “I am always trying to find a fabric that is more friendly to the environment.” Xpose Entertainment reports that the search was successful and many of the uniforms will feature recycled polyester made from used plastic bottles among other fabrics.

Branson said about the decision to incorporate eco-friendly materials into the new design, “Every company should be thinking, how can we make things that are sustainable.”
