Taking on the dominant Zeitgeist, artists Huo Rf, Merve Morkoç and Sena are presenting their wide-ranging and technically diverse output for a new exhibition titled “Signs of Time” at Galerist.

The project, which started July 18 and will run until Aug. 17, came to life when the three young artists, who are supported by Taner Ceylan, came together to create a common platform expressing their artistic beliefs and their anxieties. Their goal was to declare their independence in light of the change that is taking hold of their generation and heralding a new era.

The initiative explores various methods to express its members’ influences and to leave a lasting mark. To do so, they will stage new exhibitions in different venues and grow their ranks with new members. The project, which is directed by art writer Hatice Utkan, was named by Ceylan, one of Turkey’s leading contemporary artists. The initiative captures the spirit and the signs of time through a series of same titled, independent exhibitions that do not follow a single artistic trend.

Huo Rf graduated from the Painting Department of Balıkesir University’s School of Fine Arts. His “Not without Me” drawing series for “Signs of Time” was influenced by Max Beckmann, Leon Bonnat, Classical Greek art and his teachers. A freelance art writer since 2010, the artist has participated in the following group exhibitions: the 6th and 7th Lessedra World Art Print Annual Mini Print 2007/2008, Print For Peace Grabados Por La Paz Mexico 2009 and International Print Triennale Society Jagiellonian Library Lettra Krakow Oldenburg Poland 2009.

Morkoç is a graduate of the Graphic Design Department at Mimar Sinan University.
