In Kadirli Village of Osmaniye, an artisan who makes statues with used black garbage bags wants to be in the Guinness Book of World Records.
Abdullah Karaaslan (51), who only graduated from primary school, didn’t let his passion for painting and sculpting “go to waste”. Karaaslan says, “I started painting at the age of seven. First, I drew my friends’ portraits. I was interested in every branch of art. Eventually, I made flowers using plastic bags. This particular idea came when I made tulips with black garbage bags. I’d mold melted nylon bags and the statues appeared before my eyes.”
