Livia Giuggioli Firth may be better known among our circles as the owner of London boutique Eco Age, but at the 83rd Academy Awards tonight, she’s simply Best Actor Oscar winner Colin’s missus. For the conclusion of her Green Carpet Challenge, sponsored by Divine Chocolate, Firth sashayed down the red carpet in a breathtaking gown by British designer Gary Harvey. Harvey upcycled the corseted confection from 11 vintage dresses, each of which hails from the era that The King’s Speech—her husband’s Oscar-winning film—is based.
“Every element—including zips, corsetry and the original toiles—is recycled,” Firth says on her blog. “The only thing that we’ve used that is new is the thread that actually stitches the dress together.”
