It’s not an event that has been particularly hospitable to vegans and vegetarians, but at least now there are some options. The South Beach Wine & Food Festival, has long been a bastion for meat lovers, but that is slowly changing.

That’s because at last such healthy alternatives are making inroads. At this weekend’s Burger Bash, there will be on the menu for the first time ever a plant-based selection. Beyond Meat’s Beast Burger, the latest product from the So-Cal company will be the first veggie option at the event.

“What better place to debut our revolutionary Beast Burger than at the famous Burger Bash?” said Beyond Meat CEO Ethan Brown to the Miami New Times. “With more protein and iron than beef and more omegas than salmon, plus gluten-free, The Beast is not your typical veggie burger.”

Should you have a chance to partake in the sold out event, the burger will come with tomato chutney, avocado, and an onion ring with Dave’s Potato Salad on the side.

The Beast Burger was first introduced last year, slowly making its way around with proper introductions. The protein-laden burger was famously given to members of the New York Mets last summer, receiving rave reviews. . It looks to wind up on the shelves at Whole Foods.

Beyond Meat was founded in 2009, seeking to create sustainable, healthy, and tasty plant-based alternatives to meat products. The group looks to bring over meat lovers to the plant-based side by finding ways to create products that mimic that taste of meat. Their products include chicken-free strips as well as beef-free crumbles.
