Last week Jennine confessed that the Chelsea Micro Flares she reviewed were the first pair of Joe’s Jeans she’d ever tried on. As a girl who couldn’t imagine her wardrobe without them, I was happy to see the brand get some shine. So happy that I decided it was okay for me to wear my favorite Joe’s Jeans Bermuda shorts again–a pair that have probably seen the light of day more than anything else in my closet this summer. I definitely like to mix-up my look, but since I’m not much of a short-shorts girl, I end up wearing these quite a bit.

The Denim:
Like most Joe’s styles (or at least all the one’s I’ve tried) these fit like a dream. The rise is a bit low–circa the early 2000s–but they stay put when you sit down and fit really comfortably around the hips. And like the Chelsea Micro Flares Jennine reviewed last week, these have the perfect amount of stretch–a great element since I’m allergic to stiff denim and not a fan of super-stretchy jeans either.
These are a little more fitted than traditional Bermuda’s, so they don’t have that slightly-cheesy vacation feel that some other pairs tend to have. The cuffs and the slanted pockets also spruce them up a bit, and they’re a really pretty shade of indigo.
My only gripe is that I wish the belt loops were spaced spaced out differently. They’re pretty far apart, so unless you’re belt is really long, it might not reach through the front loop which can be annoying.

How to wear them:
I’ve worn these with everything–a tucked-in spaghetti-strap tank, a tube top and a halter. Most recently I paired them with a light-weight embroidered top. Between the optimal stretch in the shorts and the breeziness of my shirt, I think I was the most comfortable New Yorker of the day.
