Fact: I sort of hate a dressy jacket. I could live in my cargo jacket and/or my jean jacket, and I basically do. Throwing on these casual basics over an evening outfit always makes me feel that much more comfortable and down-to-earth. But at the same time, it’s fun to get creative and dress up your denim (bonus – this arguably looks even better with a white tee and shorts than it does over a cocktail dress).
Here are three quick tips for decorate your favorite denim jackets:

1. Shoe clips: Yes, shoe clips. These vintage gems are perfect for bejeweling collars and cuffs! Find them at your local flea.
2. Clip on earrings: It’s true. Cuff your sleeve, then clip them through the button hole.
3. Brooches: An obvious choice, but I particularly love finding brass pins that blend in with the color of your jean jacket buttons. Also on my wish list is a vintage Chanel pin … they’re fairly easy to find, and how can you not feel dressed up with one on your personage?
And voila … one of a kind!

If you’re in the market for a new denim jacket, my favorite is this neither-blue-nor-white number from Club Monaco!
