After years of looking to blogs for inspiration, I’ve really gotten back into looking at fashion editorials to add into the mix. It’s true, for a long time I felt like they didn’t really have many translatable elements, but the more I look, they have a way of inspiring mixes not many people would wear on the street. I had been ogling the above Rag & Bone/JEAN with the black stripe when it was in the window of their Houston Street store (of course now it’s sold out, but Paige has a similar jean). But I had no idea how to wear a pair of jeans that had a painted on black stripe down the side. Here above, in the April issue of Elle Spain, Xavi Gordo shows how it’s done by mixing it with patterns and textures. I would have just gone with a black shirt. No joke.
This editorial caught my eye, not because of it’s clever use of denim, but it’s traditional use of denim. Country, biker, but folded into more contemporary pieces for a look that is just a hint of cowboy, but ultimately urban. It’s the city girl who loves Patsy Cline. And that’s just absolutely fine.
