Many, many months ago, I had the pleasure of attending a brunch with a few lovely bloggers at Locanda Verde. I was still a bit new to New York, and very new to the New York blogger scene (if there is such a thing). I sat across the table from Helena of Brooklyn Blonde – impeccably dressed and incredibly friendly. At the time I had only seen her blog a few times, and I had no idea what a denim-phile she is! Helena rocks a colored jean like nobody’s business, and makes the Canadian Tuxedo (denim-on-denim) look effortless. I caught up with Helena recently and couldn’t feel more inspired by her style.

What is your denim philosophy?

Whenever I’m dressing up to go out and I have no clue what to wear, I reach for denim. My favorite pair of jeans at the moment, a silky button down and some heels and I always feel stylish and put together. My philosophy is when in doubt, denim always works.

What do you wear with your denim?

Everything from a sequin blazer and black patent pumps to a faux fur coat. I’m not really a sneakers girl, so my denim is usually on the dressier side.

What are your favorite denim brands?

Lately, I live in my J Brand & Paige jeans. Also, I recently stepped away from skinny jeans to wear these GoldSign Jeans and they might be my new favorites.

Do you have a very favorite pair of jeans?

Other than the GoldSigns mentioned above, lately I’m living in my Verdugo Ultra Skinny Paige jeans.

Tell us a little about the jeans you wear the most often?

Although I adore my denim, I’m not one who always reaches for a traditional blue pair. I love a good pair of red jeans, have been wearing mine for years. I’m also loving all the animal and floral printed jeans out right now. I’d rather take a pair of funky jeans and then tone it down with a classic white top and blazer.

What’s on your denim wish list?

It was a pair of the Current Elliott Leopard jeans, but I just ordered them yesterday. Oops!

Do you remember the first pair of jeans you ever owned?

I don’t remember the first pair, but I remember Paris Blues & Mudd Jeans being the hottest thing in my school.
