My New York friends, have you gone outside today? It is uh, interesting out there. The temperature is hovering right around 37 degrees, with a really soggy mix of rain and snow falling constantly from the sky.
Ahhh, the wintery mix. It’s cold, it’s wet – it’s absolutely miserable. Getting dressed on a day like this can be extremely frustrating – leading to either being too cold, too hot or totally drenched. What’s denim-lover to do?
Layering! Hats! Boots!

I hit just the right combination by wearing layers I can peel off as I warm up. I started with an ultra-preppy tartan plaid shirt and added my Madewell cableknit and a tweed jacket. Most importantly – a brimmed hat ( and tall Hunter Boots to keep me dry. The glue that holds it all together? Super-skinny black jeans. I admitted last week that I’m desperately on the hunt for a fab new pair, but for today – these will do! I think they give just the slightest bit of polish to a pretty casual and practical look.
