If you ask me, mid or medium washes is like the spring of denim. As in, it’s transitional. When we’re between the dark denim of winter and the light and destroyed washes of the summer months, enter a classic compromise: not-too-light and not-too-dark denim.

On this sunny, bordering-on-summer-y April day, Crissie has stuck just the right note in her Resin skinnies and leopard loafers, paired with a pop-of-color cotton blazer and grey-and-white top. While she’s mixing prints and colors, the look doesn’t feel busy or over-the-top. A medium wash like this is perfect for casual Friday (if your work is more business casual oriented) or weekend wear. It looks best when dressed down with key spring pieces like neon, floral tops, white tennis shoes or light-weight sweaters.

My favorite mid-wash jeans this season are these Mother ‘The Curfew Prep’ bell jeans, a very “wear forever” pair of Current / Elliott rolled skinny jeans, cropped Citizens of Humanity ‘Thompson’ skinnies and for that oh-so-downtown bohemian moment, these Vince ‘Fonda’ high waist trouser jeans.
