You know what I’ve been waiting for all week? Brunch. It is probably my most favorite cultural phenomenon on New York City weekends. Life on Saturday and Sunday seems to revolve around that first, gigantic, late-morning-to-early-afternoon meal, shared with friends and often topped off with mimosas.

Even when my head is in a bit of a fog (hey, it happens!), I love getting dressed for brunch. If I’m headed uptown and maybe to The Metropolitan Museum of Art after, I opt for a grown up, sleek look revolving around black or dark-denim jeans, with a cable knit sweater and leather jacket. (If I’m feeling extra fancy, flares and wedges.)

When I’m staying downtown, my outfits tend to be a little more bohemian. When it’s warm enough not to need a jacket, I love to wear a nice warm (oversize) sweater and scarf, and whatever happens to be my skinny jeans du jour. This week, it’s my James Jeans ‘Twiggy‘ in Vanilla. With this vintage sweater and cognac DV by Dolce Vita booties (similar to these), the look is almost monochromatic, and full of cozy neutrals. I also think that cuffing the hem of the jeans to show a sliver of leg also makes the whole ensemble a bit more casual.

This is the kind of outfit that’s ideal for eating and drinking more than you would at a regular meal, which is what brunch is all about. (It’s got two meals in the name, so it’s okay, right?)
