There were official speeches, some laughter, Joumana translating from English into Arabic like a pro, kids impatient and shy of the cameras … Then the first uniform was officially delivered to the Municipality of  Wadi Al Jamus.
It was a sweet, informal moment.  A few tears of commotion. Many months of hard work come to fruition. The wonderful design from Kaleigh and Kourtney Wilson from SCAD had become a reality.  Thanks to the collaboration between UNICEF and Orta Blu, a small, struggling NGO had become a professional manufacturing facility. The Italian Cooperation office in Lebanon had given the first push and was there to witness the incredible development of their program within the Child Friendly Community initiative of UNICEF.

The ladies of Al Uswa al Hasana had come through for all of us with great heart and dedication. On that day in Wadi al Jamus all nationality, language and religion differences had come crumbling down. It was just one more proof that when humans help each other from the heart they are indeed at their best.
