I adore denim skirts at the moment and have done since the trend fully took off this year. I used to wear them when I was younger, but as I grew up, those short denim skirts just weren’t for me anymore. However, so many denim brands have now released such modern takes on denim skirts that there’s a style to suit everyone. From the classic 90’s vibe, to pencil skirts, skater skits and more. With their new modern twist, you definitely wont feel dated or out of place! I’ve put together 5 different looks styled around 5 different denim skirts and each one suits a different genre of fashion! Which do you like?

The Boho Vibe

This is the style that I always associate with Alexa Chung, Alessandra Ambrosio and Vanessa Hudgens. Those ladies really know how to work their fringe and denim, making it look stylish. This denim skirt is of course the one that Alexa Chung designed for her AG Jeans collaboration, so it’s fitting. You really can’t go wrong by pairing this style with fringe, tan and flowy pieces! Given its versatility though, it can definitely be worn other ways if this isn’t for you.

The 90’s Style

As the 90’s has made a huge come back, I thought why not go all out and retro with this look? I took inspiration from Elle Fanning when she wore this Topshop denim skirt a few weeks ago, but I wanted to make it a bit more fitting which is why I chose the sneakers, backpack and 90’s inspired jewellery. I could definitely see someone like Rita Ora or Cara Delevingne possibly sporting a look like this too!

The Colourful & Girly Look

Girly looks are always perfect for summer, especially when there’s a huge colour injection. Styling a flappy skater skirt like this Therapy one with flat sandals, a cropped top and some bright sunglasses, jewellery and a bag is a great way to make a statement without looking over the top. 4th of July is coming up soon so this one is kind of red, white and blue inspired, but I could definitely see this being worn to the park, to town, to lunch… however you want to do a casual day.
