I don’t know about you, but I think it’s sort of a tragedy that in the winter, when I am most lax with my diet and most prone to indulgences, it is often least appropriate (and most difficult!) to wear my slouchiest denim – boyfriend jeans.
Lately though I’ve been thinking about how to make distressed and slouchy denim work as it gets colder, and a few of my favorite bloggers have shown me the way. Alicia mixes her very distressed jeans with a crisp white blazer and metalic pumps – a great holiday party look. Sandra of 5 Inch and Up plays with proportion by pairing her super-slouchy jeans with an oversize coat and sharp black heels. With a classic camel coat, stripes and clogs, Ellie of City Brewed makes this look look easy.
It seems to me, the key to making a relaxed-fit jean work in winter is all about the layering and proportions. If you’re going to wear a loose top and loose jeans, make sure your shoes are fierce and feminine. For parties and dressier occasions, try layering winter whites or again – go with killer shoes.
Do you wear your boyfriend jeans in winter? How do you style them?
