My confession is this: I’ve been challenging myself with these denim reviews. I haven’t worn a mini skirt without tights in at least a year, possibly longer. What better way to get my “groove back” in this regard than online in a classic five pocket denim skirt?

The Fit:

The Current/Elliott Five Pocket Skirt in Sundown did not disappoint. This skirt is in the classic five pocket silhouette, it’s probably similar in cut to a skirt you already own. This version differentiates itself for me by its whiskered denim wash and fantastic fit. I’m 5 foot 2, so a mini skirt makes sense and this fell exactly mid-thigh. It’s a respectable length, that still lets me show a good amount of leg. Since I’m a bike commuter, the fact that this skirt doesn’t bunch up around my waist and sits exactly where I expect it to is a bonus.

The Denim:

True to size without appreciable stretch, made of 100% cotton, this whiskered denim skirt is made of the blue denim you remember wearing in the 90s. The worn-in denim softness would probably only be achieved if you owned this same piece since the 90s. I have a denim skirt of similar thickness that I’ve had since 2006 and this Current/Elliott skirt is much more comfortably pliant.

Styling Notes:

Keeping with my objective to look put together without looking overly fussy, I paired the skirt with a faded tied-dyed tee in a relaxed cut. I’m into accessorizing to echo elements in an outfit and did it to the nth degree here. You might notice that the thread on the skirt is echoed in the buttery leather of the vintage belt, clutch, and slingback sandals. The round aqua framed sunglasses and red lipstick add pops of color, standing out against the browns and washed out blues.
