Here at Eat Sleep Denim we’ve covered this season’s wide leg trend to great extent. But there’s something to be said about the tried and true skinnies.  When I had the chance to give Resin’s Lariat ankle skinnies a spin, I jumped at the opportunity to see how this NYC-inspired brand would work for me.

The Denim:
Resin is known for their washed and worn-in look and these skinnies are a great example of the brand’s signature style.  These had some soft whiskering and a little extra seam detail down the inseam– a small but nice touch. Slipping into the denim, I noticed the jeans get extra narrow towards the calf and ankle region, even for a slim girl like myself. There is a little bit of stretch to the jeans but I could have wished for some more give, especially as mentioned, in the tighter ankle section.
The waist, on the other hand, fit perfectly. Some quick online research showed that sizing up is recommended and I would agree. These were 1 size larger than I usually wear and the waist fit me right.  But my lack of curves meant the hip section had a tiny bit of sag– for most girls though, I wouldn’t imagine this to be a problem.

How to Wear Them:
Pair these skinnies with some platform heels to make your legs appear impossibly long and lean.  Given the versatility of skinny jeans, any top, whether fitted or loose, will complement this denim. And with this particular light wash, a lighter colored top can keep your outfit palette soft and feminine.
