Almost everything you need to know about Lauren’s blog, Everyday to Runway, can be gleaned from it’s title. She’s a master of taking high-fashion and on-trend looks and turning them into totally wearable day-to-day ensembles, without losing an ounce of the chic-factor. I interviewed Lauren to get the dish on how she works denim into her everyday style.

What’s your denim philosophy?

Denim is the most transitional piece in your closet. I think every girl should have a skinny jean, a wide leg, and a trouser jean for weekend casual, nights out, or the office.

What do you wear with your denim?

The beauty of dark denim is that you can wear a tee and ballet flatswith a cozy sweater on a Saturday or you can wear a silk tank, layered necklaces and stilettos for a night out. Transitional denim is the way to go.

What are your favorite denim brands?

I’m newly into J Brand but my go-to brands are LOFT + Express for a stretchier denim that won’t lose shape.

Do you have a very favorite pair of jeans?

I’m absolutely in love with my pair of Elizabeth and James Jimi jeans but they’re a bit too long so I have to wear them with no rain or snow in the forecast!

Tell us a little about the jeans you wear the most often?

I love to slip on my LOFT skinny jeans, they tuck easily into boots, look polished with ballet flats and show off my heels. I have 3 pairs of the same style!

What’s on your denim wishlist?

For fall, I’m on the hunt for a deep pumpkin colored jean, or the new textures like coated denim and even velvet for a change.

Do you remember the first pair of jeans you ever owned?

I’m pretty sure they were a super old pair of ripped Levi’s that I cut into capris from my mom’s closet. I wore those to shreds. I take a lot of things from her closet.
