If you cast your mind back to December’s Denim Trends You’ll Possibly Love in 2012, denim overalls were on the hot list – and the adorable look that showed the potential chic of this formerly farm-centric item won over at least one commenter.
So, we’re here in May 2012 and I guess overalls are indeed “having a moment” … whether or not we care to like it! I do think Man Repeller and Garance Doré hit the right note in their posts, capturing “the perfect balance between tomboy and sexy” (- Garance) that makes the silhouette work (Man Repeller shows hers two ways, which is encouraging).
The trouble with overalls is once you’ve made the major decision to “go there,” then you have to actually buy a pair. Ugh, the decisions: cut-off or long? wide leg or slim? slouchy hip? high straps? thin straps? Now … what’s the back look like? [Shock] OK on to the next pair …
But, let me at least get you started (or further horrify you, if you’re just not a fan of this trend) with these 3 fashion-forward takes:
1. Maison Scotch Overalls ($219)
2. Surface to Air Dede Denim Overalls ($290)
3. Citizens of Humanity Parker Overalls ($319)
So – will you, do you, or won’t you? Would you try the trend with any of these 3, if money were no object? (I could maybe attempt 2).
