To be honest, I’ve never really been big on Resort season. Why? Because I don’t, you know, resort. It’s a collection designed for the elite to wear when they abandon their cold, winter-y homes for tropical locales, usually around the holidays.
There’s been a shift in the fashion landscape recently though, and retailers are asking for more resort collections with more urban appeal. I guess I’m not the only one who can’t resort this year! On that note, many of the collections featured bright, warm weather-inclined pieces, but ones that easily translate to city wear.
The Marc By Marc Jacobs Resort 2013 collection (above) featured of-the-moment polka dot print denim as well as a seriously cool denim utility jacket. The best part? When this collection arrives at retailers, we can actually afford it!

Derek Lam‘s Resort collection offered a few denim pieces that are simultaneously sharp and soft. The belted chambray tunic creates a feminine silhouette with sharp features, and the light-wash denim jumpsuit at right – well – talk about sexy!

The Theyskens’ Theory collection had major urban appeal, featuring sleek blazers and darker hues. Paired with pointy-toe pumps, the light and dark washes some seriously slouchy, low-slung denim looked perfect for the city girl who has no interest in resorting.
