Fashion Week gets our minds wandering to seasons ahead. Obviously, that’s what it is, a preview of what is to come. But once NYFW kicks off (and through London, Paris, Milan) we can’t stop planning and obsessing over what exactly we’ll be buying, pairing, and wish listing. Many times this involves trying to translate an obscure set of looks into a more wearable version, and even though Spring ’14 seemed composed more of real life looks than seasons before, denim is the best way to start translating the trends. We’ve rounded up five of our favorite spring 2014 denim trends.
1. Denim Shirt Dresses

We spotted many a denim shirt dress, in many a form. H&M sent a couple down the runway.
2. Retro Denim

Flashback. Designers are taking it back to the 60s and 70s with retro styles including flare legged styles, denim vests, and paneled jackets.
3. Trouser Jeans

Along the same lines as retro denim, we spotted a resurgence of wide leg trouser jeans. A comfortable, laid-back style we may be living in. Trina Turk presented our favorite pair.
4. Denim Overalls

Remember these? Of course you do. They’ve been hot for two season now. The trend continues into Spring 2014. So if you’ve been debating over scoring your own pair for the past year, you may be convinced by spring. DKNY sent a great pair down the runway.
5. Frayed & Raw Edge Denim

We smell a denim DIY involving frayed/raw edged denim in the near future! We love his trend and are happy it’s returning for spring.
